![]() ![]() Only one of the two new maps is unlocked and the vehicles are also locked behind the game’s Progression Point currency, and the game doesn’t really tell you how to earn these points in order to open up the content for which you have paid. Mudrunner was plagued by this issue of an almost arcade system of unlocking new vehicles and maps, and American Wilds does not address this problem. The problem I had with the DLC is just how much of it is locked at the start. Alongside that is a handful of new challenge missions, which show off some of the new vehicles and just add a bit more personality to the package. Spintires: Mudrunner – American Wilds (don’t you just hate multiple subtitles in a game’s name?) adds a couple of new maps to the sandbox single player mode, each with their own overall objectives and particular set of challenges to overcome in its environment. It has an adorable little baby log trailer that can haul one log point.Just under a year ago, when I reviewed the original Spintires: Mudrunner game, I wrote: “With its pedestrian pace and delivery objectives, Mudrunner won’t appeal to an awful lot of people, but that doesn’t stop it being a fun and often relaxing experience.” In this new American Wilds expansion, not a lot has changed from the above, but I must say that it is still well worth your attention. Seems like a fair alternative to the stock 1-star trucks. There's a problem with the engine sound but otherwise this thing is cool as hell. GAZ 69A: Gotta get this just for the convertible option. This thing really shines if you want to do some serious off-trail driving which I think is what it was designed for. This is another one you can use to "lower the difficulty" even more. I don't use it for challenging maps because it can carry 4 garage points without a trailer which is pretty broken. Skull/Forces K5 Blazer: Really fun if you're into the rock-crawling element. Very quick and stable but gets stuck rather easily so driving it is a bit of a unique challenge. Niva 2329: Seems well balanced and looks great but there's an issue with the engine sound that's kind of annoying. ![]() Seems to have a few bugs with the accessories/addons but it looks great and it's at least not another green Ural-style truck. URAL 420-41 SVE: Another probably-too-good 6圆. If you are finding the game too challenging, use this. I'll probably use this if I ever need to re-unlock all the stock maps. It has better traction than the K700 but burns fuel like the stock 6圆 trucks. It has a trailer that can haul 8 points of logs along with a crane. ![]() It will crawl out of almost anything, doesn't burn that much fuel, and the accessories are a bit too insane. KrAZ 257 SVE 6圆: Looks amazing but makes the game very easy. Best spintires maps mods#Mods that I don't use but I'm keeping an eye on: There are a lot of little addons like the lightbar, small auxiliary tanks, and roof rack that really make this thing awesome. It's maybe a little quicker than the stock trucks but it doesn't have obscene traction and torque or anything. KrAZ-6322: This is one of the best looking 6圆 trucks, IMO. This one seems pretty balanced and it looks great. KrAZ-6316: I don't usually start with 8x8s. It comes with smaller versions of some of the stock accessories and trailers. Used to be OP but is rebalanced to be a good alternative to the B66. GOMINU: A nice 2-star vehicle that's insanely well done. It seems a little quicker than the stock jeeps but also seems easier to roll. What I have end up being more-or-less cosmetic or thematically different versions of things that are already in the game. I highly recommend this map if you want a challenge.Īs far as vehicles go, I've done my best to avoid totally OP Workshop mods. ![]() I've got Blackwater Canyon which is pretty intense and I'm sure I'll be revisiting that. I'm especially looking for objective-based maps. I'm looking for some new maps and I'm wondering what others are finding fun/interesting. ![]()
